The rigger is responsible for safely performing rigging and lifting operations. They set up and maintain rigging equipment, follow safety protocols, and communicate effectively with the team. Key requirements include rigging knowledge with a certificate.

Job Descriptions

  1. Rigging and lifting operations: Perform rigging activities to safely lift, move, position, and secure heavy equipment, machinery, or structural components. This includes selecting and inspecting rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, chains, and hooks, and ensuring they are in good working condition.
  2. Equipment setup and maintenance: Set up and dismantle rigging equipment as needed for different tasks. Ensure that the rigging gear is properly maintained, cleaned, and stored when not in use. Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
  3. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations while performing rigging operations. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety harnesses, gloves, and safety shoes. Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents, protect oneself and others, and maintain a safe working environment.
  4. Communication and coordination: Collaborate with supervisors, crane operators, and other team members to ensure effective communication and coordination during rigging operations. Follow instructions and signals accurately to ensure the safe and efficient movement of loads.
  5. Load calculations and inspections: Calculate load capacities and determine the appropriate rigging techniques and equipment to be used for each task. Inspect the loads, lifting points, and rigging gear to ensure they are secure and properly positioned.
  6. Risk assessment and problem-solving: Identify potential hazards or risks associated with rigging tasks and take appropriate measures to mitigate them. Problem-solve on-site challenges, such as obstacles or restricted spaces, and adapt rigging plans accordingly.
  7. Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of rigging activities, including load weights, rigging configurations, inspections, and any incidents or accidents that occur. Complete relevant documentation and submit it to the supervisor or appropriate personnel as required.
  8. Continuous learning: Stay updated with industry standards, best practices, and new techniques related to rigging. Attend training programs and seek opportunities for professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to Relocate: Candidates must be open to relocating to Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria, as the job is based in that location.
  • Rigging Knowledge: Riggers should possess a foundational understanding of rigging either through formal training or previous experience working in reputable companies within the related field.
  • Oil and Gas Experience: Supervisors should have at least some experience in the operations of the oil and gas industry. This experience will contribute to their ability to effectively oversee rigging activities within this sector.
